Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Med V Airport in Casablanca, you’ll be greeted by your private English-speaking driver, who will provide a brief overview of your New Year tour. You’ll explore Casablanca, the country’s commercial hub, admiring its stunning architecture, the impressive Hassan II Mosque, and the lovely gardens and terrace cafés overlooking the Atlantic Coast. Afterwards, you’ll head to Rabat, the capital city, where you will spend the night with dinner at your hotel or riad.
Today, we’ll travel to Chefchaouen. Along the way, we’ll make a few short stops before arriving in the picturesque blue city. You will enjoy an overnight stay in an authentic riad located in the Medina.
We’ll drive from Chefchaouen to Meknes for a guided tour. First, we’ll stop at the impressive Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the best-preserved Roman site in Northern Africa. Your certified local guide will share insights about life in the Roman Empire as you explore ancient bathhouses, mosaic floors, and towering marble pillars. After our time in Volubilis, we’ll head to Meknes for lunch. Our guided tour will begin at the stunning 18th-century Bab Mansour, the ornamental gateway to the imperial city built by Sultan Moulay Ismail. We’ll continue to the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, visit the entrance to the Meknes Royal Palace, and finish at the impressive Heri Es Souani, once a stable and granary for 12,000 horses. We’ll then travel to Fes for an overnight stay, including dinner.
After breakfast at your riad, you’ll embark on a guided tour of the medina, one of the largest walled cities in the world, dating back to the 9th century. The visit will begin at the Royal Palace gate and the Jewish quarter known as “Mellah,” built in the 16th century. You’ll explore various artisan quarters, including the souks for brass, copper, and wedding adornments, along with areas for bakers and butchers. A highlight of the tour will be the famous Fes tannery, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the workers treating and dyeing the hides. You’ll also visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II (the founder of Fes), the 9th-century Al Karaouine University, and one of the medersas (Koranic schools). You’ll spend the night in the riad with breakfast.
Continuing our 10-day Morocco tour from Casablanca, we’ll leave Fes for Erfoud. En route, we’ll pass through scenic cedar forests and the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping for lunch in Midelt. Our journey continues through the stunning Ziz Valley, famous for its palm trees and oasis. Along the route, you’ll see numerous ksars, small villages made up of individual houses. Arriving in Erfoud, known for its date festival and fossils, we will finally reach the Merzouga Sahara Desert after approximately 7 hours of travel. Dinner and overnight stay will be in a Kasbah hotel.
Your Saharan adventure begins with a visit to a nomad village, followed by lunch at a Kasbah hotel near the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After some time to relax by the pool, you’ll walk or ride a camel across the sands as the sun sets, witnessing the dunes transform into a stunning red hue. As night falls, enjoy the lively beats of Berber drum music and a delicious Moroccan feast before sleeping under the stars in your private luxury tent, which features a private bathroom and hot shower. Your journey will continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through the Skoura palm oasis en route to Ouarzazate. After lunch in Ouarzazate, we’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou. Following our exploration, we’ll head towards the majestic Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi Tichka pass at 2,260 meters high, which offers stunning views of the valleys, mountains, and nearby Berber villages. You will arrive in Marrakech by sunset, with dinner and overnight accommodation at a hotel or riad.
After breakfast, you’ll explore Marrakech with a knowledgeable guide. The tour begins at the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque, a landmark that inspired structures such as the Giralda of Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat. Next, visit the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs, dating back to the time of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur. The tombs, discovered in 1917, house the remains of about sixty members of the Saadian Dynasty from the Draa River valley. After a lunch break, continue to the famous Jemaa el Fna Square, bustling with food vendors, snake charmers, local musicians, and fortune-tellers.
