As you traverse this landscape on the back of a camel—a method of transport that has been used across the Sahara for thousands of years—you’ll experience the serene beauty of this timeless area.
The camel ride typically lasts a couple of hours. Upon arrival at the desert camp, you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea while our staff prepares a delicious lunch. This excursion provides a unique opportunity to witness how nomadic people thrive with the simplest of resources.
After a hearty lunch, you’ll have the chance to climb the towering sand dunes for some thrilling sandboarding—one of the most popular activities in the Merzouga desert. As the day draws to a close, you’ll witness a breathtaking sunset, with the rays of the sun casting magical colors over the dunes, transitioning to a stunning orange hue.
As night falls, you’ll gather around the campfire for a tasty dinner, followed by a lively music party featuring Berber drums. This enchanting atmosphere promises a night to remember in your private tent (at your preferred tent type), with a promise of one of the most beautiful sunrises to greet you in the morning.
Awaken in the heart of the Sahara Desert to a panoramic sunrise that is well worth the early rise. After enjoying a refreshing shower, a healthy breakfast will be waiting for you.
Your camel guide will prepare the camels for the return trek to the village. Alternatively, if you prefer, a 4×4 transfer back from the camp is also available.
