Day 1Marrakech to Chefchaouen Desert Tour - Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou - Dades Valley

Your journey to the desert starts at 7:30 am when your friendly driver/guide picks you up from your hotel or Riad in Marrakech. The first stop is the magnificent Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, which is a UNESCO world heritage site and famous for its use as a filming location for numerous Hollywood movies.

As you drive through the high Atlas Mountains and Tizi Ntichka pass, you’ll be amazed by the stunning scenery outside your window. The drive takes about 6 hours, and we’ll make several stops along the way to take in the breathtaking views, stretch our legs, and capture some photos.

After visiting Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, we’ll drive to Ouarzazate, where you can explore the Atlas film Studios and grab some lunch before continuing on to the oasis of Skoura. Here, you’ll have the chance to visit one of the best-preserved Kasbahs in Morocco, the Kasbah Amridil. You’ll learn about the unique architecture, customs, and irrigation systems of the region.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll head towards Boumalne Dades, passing through the Valley of Roses. Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your lodge and enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the night. The lodge is located next to Dades Canyons, and you’ll be surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

Day 2Dades Valley - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga Desert

As you wake up to a new day in Boumalne Dades, get ready for an adventure-filled day with a drive to the charming town of Tinghir. On the way, you will pass through the famous road of 1001 Kasbahs, a unique sight to behold. Upon reaching Tinghir, we will take a detour to another oasis where you can take a leisurely walk by the stream and enjoy nature’s beauty.

The highlight of Tinghir is the stunning Todgha Gorges, a natural wonder that will leave you in awe. After lunch at a local café, we will head to the holy town of Rissani, the ancestral home of the ruling family in Morocco. Here, you will learn about the town’s history and spirituality and get a glimpse of ancient caravan roads that once led to the Sahara desert.

We will continue our journey to Merzouga, where your adventure in the desert begins. Brace yourself for an exciting camel ride over Erg Chebbi dunes, where the sky takes on beautiful shades of orange as the sun sets. You will reach your Sahara desert camp, located in the heart of the desert, where you can take a walk up to one of the dunes to admire the stunning views.

Dinner will be served under the open sky, accompanied by local nomads’ music, an experience you will never forget. Get ready for a night under the stars in the middle of nowhere, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Day 3Merzouga » Ziz Valley » Azrou Cedar forest » Fes [467 km]

On Day 3 of your Marrakech to Chefchaouen desert tour, you will be leaving the beautiful Merzouga desert after an early breakfast at your camp. But don’t worry, your adventure doesn’t end there! You’ll start your journey towards the imperial city of Fes, passing through the stunning Ziz Valley and the city of Errachidia. As you continue your drive, you’ll make a stop in Midelt for a delicious lunch before heading out again. As you cross the magnificent Middle Atlas Mountains, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful cedar forests and might even catch a glimpse of the Barbary monkeys that call this area home. You’ll also pass by the Berber towns of Ifran and Imouzzar, famous for their ski resorts in the winter. After a long but beautiful drive, you’ll arrive in Fes late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided in a comfortable and traditional Riad located in the heart of the Fes Medina. Get ready to explore the winding alleys and bustling markets of one of Morocco’s most vibrant cities.

(7 Hours Drive)

Day 4Fes (Visit the city with a local guide)

On day 4, we will explore the vibrant city of Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco and one of the oldest cities in the kingdom. With its rich cultural heritage and educational institutions, Fez is often referred to as the “Athens of Africa”.

Our guided tour will begin with a visit to the magnificent Royal Palace, with its luxurious architecture and spacious esplanade. Next, we will head to Borj Sud, a 16th-century fortress that offers stunning views of the walled city.

We will then delve deep into the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Medina, where we will walk through narrow streets, explore charming bazaars, and visit ancient madrassas (Koranic schools) and hillside shrines. Along the way, we will stop at Nejjarine square, a bustling hub of activity, and explore the Dar Batha Museum, where we can discover Moroccan art.

Fez has an abundance of places to see, and we will make the most of our time here. After our tour, we will drive back to our hotel or riad, where we can relax and enjoy the rest of the evening. The drive back takes approximately one hour.

Day 5Fes » Volubilis » Chefchaouen» Fes [200 km]

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your Riad in Fes, then embark on a scenic drive across the Saiss Plain towards Volubilis. This is a must-visit destination in Morocco, known for its rich history and cultural significance. As a world heritage site, Volubilis covers an expansive area of 42 hectares, showcasing the impressive urban development of the Roman Empire. Be amazed by the art materials produced here, including marble, bronze sculpture, and mosaic. The site is also significant to other civilizations, such as the Libyco-Berber, Mauritanian, Christian, and Arabo-Islamic.

After your tour of Volubilis, continue your journey across the picturesque Rif Mountains, and soak in the stunning views of the varied scenery along the way. As you approach Chefchaouen, be prepared to be awed by the beauty of this charming town.

Upon arrival, check into your Riad and enjoy a sumptuous dinner. Spend the night in Chefchaouen, and get ready for more adventures in the morning.

Chefchaouen - Marrakech/Casablanca

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at your Riad in Chefchaouen, the famous blue city that has captured the hearts of many travelers. The town’s unique blue and white-painted houses create a stunning visual contrast that makes it the most photogenic destination in Morocco.

Take a stroll through the town’s charming and narrow streets, filled with artisan shops selling exquisite handicrafts and leather products that are renowned throughout Morocco. Chefchaouen’s architecture showcases an Andalusian influence that adds to the town’s beauty.

Can I choose a different Riad in the Medinas of Fes and Chefchaouen?

Yes, there are many riads available in the Medinas of Fes and Chefchaouen. You can either book it directly or let the tour operator know so they can arrange it for you.

Can we rent quad bikes in Merzouga?

Yes, there are plenty of ATV rental companies in Merzouga that provide good quality quad bikes and dune buggies in Erg Chebbi dunes. Your guide will assist you, and you will pay the supplier in Merzouga directly. The cost is 50 Euros per quad per hour.

Can we skip the camel ride to the desert camp in Erg Chebbi?

Yes, you can skip the camel ride and take a separate 4×4 to the desert camp. An additional fee of 30 Euros for the return transfer will apply. However, if you choose to upgrade to the luxury desert camp, no additional fees apply for a 4×4 return transfer.

Are There Showers In The Desert Camp In Merzouga?

Luxury camp bathrooms are private inside your tent. ( already included in the tour price )
