Trip Morocco offers private, standard, and luxury (Deluxe) tours to Merzouga Sahara from Marrakech, ranging from 3 days to longer durations. We also provide a shared 3-day tour to the Sahara Desert from Marrakech in a small group, with only transportation being shared.
The cost of the tour depends on various factors such as the number of travelers, the type of accommodation (Standard, Luxury, or Mixed option (Medium)), and the season. Do not hesitate to reach out to us for further information.
On the first day of the tour, we will cross the Tizi Ntichka pass and the magnificent High Atlas Mountains, making various stops along the way. Our first destination is the renowned UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, which has been a popular location for numerous Hollywood movies such as “Lawrence of Arabia (1962),” “The Jewel of the Nile (1985),” “Gladiator,” and “Game of Thrones,” among others. The Kasbah’s rich history and photogenic appeal earned it a spot on UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1987.
After exploring the Kasbah, we will continue our journey to Ouarzazate, where we’ll take a photo stop at Atlas Studios before enjoying a delightful lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Tinghir via the Valley of the Roses and Dades Valley before arriving at our hotel, Bougafer. You’ll have a private room of your preferred type for a comfortable dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we’ll depart from Tinghir to explore the breathtaking Todgha Gorges, a 15-kilometer-long valley filled with date palms. As we travel through the area, you’ll be amazed by the towering walls of grey and pink rock that encircle the road. You’ll also have the opportunity to walk alongside the 300-meter-high canyons for an unforgettable experience.
Next, we’ll journey to Merzouga’s Erg Chebbi Sahara desert via Berber villages such as Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud. We’ll stop for lunch in Tinejdad while exploring the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet.
From there, we’ll continue our desert adventure towards Erfoud, the “capital of fossils,” and then to Merzouga. Upon arrival, your guide and camels will be eagerly waiting to take you on an unforgettable ride across the towering sand dunes of the Sahara Desert in Morocco. As the sun begins to set, you’ll experience a magical camel ride that will lead you to our nomad desert camp in the heart of Erg Chebbi.
With the rhythmic beat of drums filling the air, you’ll enjoy a delectable dinner under a traditional nomad tent and spend the night surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Sahara.
Accommodation in a Berber tent (Desert camp) in the middle of the desert, one of the most beautiful places, where you can admire the sunrise and the sunset and a starry sky.
Once you’ve witnessed the mesmerizing sunrise over the sand dunes and had breakfast, it’s time to ride your camels back to the Auberge. After that, we’ll head straight back to Marrakech with a few stops along the way. You can enjoy your lunch before continuing your journey to the Red City of Marrakech, passing through the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 meters in altitude) and the High Atlas Mountains. Once we arrive in Marrakech, we’ll drop you off at your accommodation.
The distance from Marrakech to Merzouga is 562 km.
