When preparing for your Merzouga desert adventure, keep the following recommendations in mind:
1. Clothing for Daytime: Morocco tends to have warm daytime temperatures, so pack comfortable, loose-fitting, and breathable clothing. Opt for lightweight fabrics that provide ventilation and allow for ease of movement.
2. Evening Attire: Evenings can be cool, especially during the winter months. It is advisable to bring a jacket or a lightweight cover-up to keep warm when temperatures drop.
3. Protection from the Sun: As desert temperatures can vary from cold nights to hot days, it is crucial to protect yourself from the sun’s strong rays. Pack sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen with a high SPF to shield yourself from sunburn and heat.
4. Comfortable Footwear: Bring comfortable shoes suitable for walking and sandboarding activities. Sport sneakers or sturdy sandals are recommended for traversing the desert terrain.
5. Appropriate Clothing for Camel Trek: During the camel trek and overnight stay in the desert, it is best to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, or skirts to protect yourself from the sun and potential sand irritation. These clothing choices provide coverage and ensure a comfortable experience.
6. Miscellaneous Items: Don’t forget to bring any necessary personal items, such as medications, toiletries, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout your journey.
